Default K15

Flat water board only or able to cope with rough seas. I have been advised by JH to get the point but as i'm cruising rather than racing the carbon construction of the point puts me off alittle.

Hi Shiner,

Knowing where you paddle and having paddled that coast extensively I personally think the Point will work best. It will cope with rough seas better (you won't always be going down wind so the rudder on the point will help in side wind). The other thing is availability - I don't expect to see a K15 anytime soon in the UK. Probably July at the earliest.

The point should be a good board for you. The construction isn't a big deal as it's not a surf board. The light weight makes the board fly.

John

Hi Shiner,
John's advice is spot on...

We have a K-15, as well as a number of Points in our paddleracing team fleet...

The Point was built as a rough water down winder...even if you're not racing, it will serve you well...the K-15 likes flatter water...we have found it to be fast and stable...

Here's our shop manager, John Becker, powering the Point into 9th place (out of 250 competitors) at Battle of the Paddle...20-25mph winds...

Our top female race team member , Vicki Mills, 1st place La Jolla Shores on the Point...

Our paddle racing team has been doing some serious testing on these boards and others...

The 13th annual Hanohano Ocean Challenge was held last weekend in San Diego...280 competitors lined up to do the short course (4.75 miles), which included SUP...

Our top female paddle race team member , Vicki Mills, raced the K-15 into 1st place SUP women...sustaining a speed of 5.1 mph over the 4.75 mile course with a time of 56 minutes...leaving dozens of men in her wake...;-)
