Hello friends,
this past March gave us very nice conditions for SUP in Bali. Waves were mostly in the shoulder to head high region with couple of nice swell that produced waves to almost double over head. We started to ride more often at Serangan also known as Turtle Island. Is a famous surf spot with up to 50-60 surfer in the water at any time. There is a main A frame peak and 2 smaller peak with a nice left hander and the other one with a nice right hander. You can find more info at the spot page in our web site: http://www.bali-standuppaddle.org/aboutbali.html The main peak is always pack but the other 2 are not that busy. First couple of days peoples (specially the locals) looked at us with a bit of diffidence. We work our way in the line up by staying always in the shoulder and catching the waves that were left over. Many time when a big set come in most of the surfer were too dip to take off and we had the waves all by ourself. We act very friendly with everyone and help by calling waves for the prone surfers. Now we are pretty much welcome and the vibe in the water is quite nice. Still we never take off in the pack or with people in front of us. If you act nicely there is no problem to blend in. Instead of Beach Boys Surfing we should call it Gentleman Surfing!!! Here in Bali in few spot (where we do not usually go) there has been already few clashes involving SUPPER and surfer. If you come over feel free to drop in our place and just ask where are the good spot. Keep a good attitude and be friendly with everyone. Too see the pics from our sessions at Serangan go to our Photo Gallery page: http://www.bali-standuppaddle.org/photogallery.html Bye and looking forward to see you in Bali.
