When did SUP become more then just a hobby for you? SUP was almost instantly intertwined with hobby and a career, as it was only several months after being introduced to the sport that I was riding for Starboard. So to say the least, I am just trying to prove myself. Why did you choose Starboard? I believe Starboard and Myself chose each other, I was very new in the sport when I was first put in contact with them and the more I got to understand SUP and Starboard?s relation to the sport with their board quality, innovative mindset, and of course the people in house, I was sold. Tell us about your quiver? / Which board is your favorite? Right now my favorite board is the 6?6? Impossible. I love the short feel because it is a very similar feeling to a short board, and to me that feeling makes paddle boarding that much more exciting. SUP has given you the chance to travel the world. Out of all travels, which one has been the most memorable? Correct, Starboard and the sport have given me a great opportunity to travel. I would have to say that my first international trip with Starboard and SUP had to be to Bali to test boards out and visit the crew at Starboard in Thailand, that was a great trip. I respect anyone who is pushing SUP towards a direction that is beneficial to the sport. I also respect the individuals who have genuinely dedicated years to the sport. Who do you respect in SUP? ... What are your 5 most played songs on your IPod? Music means so much to me, I wake up with it, listen to it throughout my day, sleep to it. I can?t say what music I?m on right now because it would be irrelevant in a week, so here?s some tracks that will always remain complacent. Phoenix- Lisztomania, any song off of Jay-Z?s Reasonable Doubt Album, Louis Armstrong- What A Wonderful World, Tupac- Do For Love, Paul Simon-Diamonds on the soles of her shoes. Oh, probably going to have to throw in some Michael too? that man?s songs are out of control, I?ll get rowdy to some Michael. What inspires you? That?s a tough one? I don?t think I can really define that, maybe I need to know myself better. A simple acknowledgment is music, but probably most of all the people who go for their dreams with conviction and determination. Man, I got off of that question easy. What's your biggest accomplishment in 2009? It would have to be the organization of the Second Annual First Surf-free surf clinic on Amelia Island, FL. First Surf was created to get underprivileged and interested individuals, both young and old out to the beaches to learn the basics of surfing and a chance at experiencing the thrill of riding their first wave. More about the event can be found at FirstSurfClinic.com. What are your goals for 2010? My goal for 2010 is to take the opportunities at hand by the horns and act with deliverance and speed, to achieve. |
