When did SUP become more than just a hobby for you?
After my first race last May. Once I ad competition to anything I am doing, such as SUP, then it goes from being a hobby to a habit to an obsession.

Why did you chose Starboard?
I was doing a group training paddle one day and EJ let me try out his Starboard prototype clog board (now known as The New). After I tried his board, I never raced mine again. It was an easy decision. Starboard designs are innovative and clearly ahead of the pack.

Tell us about your quiver?/ Which board is your favorite:
8'5" Pocket Rocket, 10'3", K-15, 12'6" The New, 12'6" surf/race board.
I like The New 12'6" for racing, but for max fun, I like the Pocket Rocket.

Who do you respect in SUP?
2 people come to mind. Rob Rojas and EJ. Rob, I have known since I was 8. He drafted me into the sport of Sup racing. He has always been, and still is one of the nicest, most humble guys you will ever meet. He trains harder (at everything) than any one I know. EJ-what a character! This guy is dedicated to SUP, and a great ambassador for the sport. He's great at helping and encouraging others to paddle, and has been a great mentor/training partner to me. Plus, he's just plain funny.

What are your 5 most played songs on your IPod?
That changes on a weekly basis, I hear a song I like and play it over and over until I can't stand it. But the artists that I keep going back to are:

No Doubt
Bon Jovi
Pink
Beyonce
Britney Spears
Snoop Dogg came in close at number 6

What's your biggest accomplishment in 2009?
It's a toss up between 1st at the International Paddleboard Championships and 1st at the Battle of the Paddle distance race on The New stock board.
