Adventures demoing the SUP's
Fresh from his second place in Thailand's King of the Lake SUP Challenge, Henning Bragge embarked on a weekend get away with a fleet of three SUPs with his colleagues. Here's how it went down.
After several busy weeks at the office, the Djiing crew embarked on a short excursion to escape from work and head to the beach. Forunate to have three Starboard demo SUPs on loan from a very generous friend, the crew headed off with boards stacked on the roof. Arriving at their destination, they quickly discovered that their kite boarding buddy may not have been the ideal person for the seemingly simple job of unscrewing the fins... the screws and bolts were no where to be found! Frantically searching for an open hardware store - the guys had all but given up and headed to the supermarket to buy beer, discovering that this supermarket also stocked the readily available nuts and bolts that they required. The next morning, despite a few hangovers, the crew headed out at the crack of dawn to take advantage of the rolling surf. As the surf mellowed out it was the perfect opportunity for those new to SUPing to stand up and enjoy a paddle... it was exciting to see how popular the boards were and how quickly many were able to find their balance and enjoy the conditions. Great fun was had by all of the Djiing crew and a few more boards are now on order from the local distributor. - Special thanks to TV Pool magazine for arranging the accomodation. In the coming months the crew are planning to release the next chapter in their SUP excursions, which is rumoured to take them on a tour along the river and canals around the ruins of the ancient city of Ayuttahya. This will be a very picturesque and memorable excursion... so stay tuned for more details coming soon. ![]()
